International Women’s Day has been celebrated all around the world for more than a century. On March 8th, every year, people come together to note the feats that have been made by women and further lobby for gender equality and women’s rights.

In the past few years, women from various institutions, including Frontlearn Institute, have made headlines, called for celebrations, and made those in their spheres of influence proud by making meaningful contributions to the education sector.

A few of these women include:

  1. Pasty Mink – Title IX Coauthor and congresswoman

Pasty is no ordinary woman because of the developments she brought to the field of education. Mink desired to go to medical school but could not do so because she was a woman. Then, after finishing law school, she struggled to find a place to work because she was a woman and a mother. She did not give up though. She pivoted her dreams, becoming the first female candidate of color who was elected into a political post in the US Congress. She then coauthored a book named Title IX and advocated for the rights of women, especially in post-modern discrimination. Mink was instrumental in helping put critical policies against discrimination and in funding education programs that support women.

Today, Frontlearn Institute is laying a lot of emphasis on ensuring that women get a fair chance in education. Our programs are gender-sensitive and we pride ourselves on skilling women who have become great professionals in the corporate sector.

  1. Fanny Jackson Coppin – A proponent for African American Education

Fanny was a former enslaved person from the black community. Being a woman, earning a college degree was no easy feat. She dedicated her life to ensuring that African Americans got as many educational opportunities as possible after the civil war in the United States.

Fanny served as the principal for the Institute of Colored Youth based in Philadelphia for 40 years. During her tenure, she eliminated all tuition fees and financed the housing of the students who moved from the suburbs to live in the city.

  1. Ella Flagg Young

Ella Young was an education reformer who would later go on to become the first female superintendent of the great city of Chicago. She did not manage to go to school until she was 11 years old. Eradicating poverty is key, but how does one eradicate poverty? This seems like a simple question. Yet, it is complex and has been unanswered for decades despite being discussed in several global forums including SDG, UN, and World Bank forums. In a statement, the World Bank notes that it is commited to eradicating poverty in all its dimensions. The global economic body calls for the use of latest information to help goverments develop policies that are sound that can help even struggling economies, and focus investments in areas that are critical to enhancing the lives of people.

In a five point article on how to eradicate poverty, Outreach International notes that it is critical that those directly affected by the problem be directly involved in efforts to combat poverty. This implies that affected populations should be major participants in the global fight against poverty. They also note that it is more important to organize a team to fight poverty rather than leaving the fight to only a few. While this is happening, the key issues should be identified in orde to make the fight more worthwhile. Importantly, those in poverty are to be made aware that they can addres their own issues and that the process of alleaviating poverty takes time.

At Frontlearn Institute, we believe that education can and will reduce poverty. We are not alone as the UN arm for education also holds the same views. UNESCO’s report and the Education Commission provide critical evidence on the impact of education of the earnings of an individual and overall economic growth. Frontlearn Institute of Technology is delighted to announce funding for its 2021 semesters to benefit worthy and needy students. This will enable those who cannot be able to fund or get guardian sponsorship to kickstart their career in their desired field.

To be eligible, a student has to have completed secondary school education and attained at least a minimum grade for Frontlearn Institute of Technology’s course requirements. Students can apply for scholarships for certificate or diploma courses.

In allocating awards, we Frontlearn Institute will give priority to students who have academic excellence and display genuine need. The management, will review your scholarship application and decide whether or not you will receive a scholarship and the percentage of waiver thereof.

To apply,  a student is expected to fill the below online form and complete the scholarship application requirements:

The required information includes scanned copies of academic documents, signed and a stamped letter from a referee, and a completed application – which can either be done online or physically.

Once applicants Frontlearn Institute of Technology offers an application a scholarship offer, the application is expected to respond with a written acceptance letter. The applicants will be expected to pay their respective admission fees.
